Twisted aestivation
If one margin of an appendage overlaps that of the next one and so on, it is called twisted aestivation.
eg: China rose, Lady's finger, Cotton
Imbricate aestivation
If the margins of sepals or petals overlaps one another but not in any particular direction, it is called imbricate aestivation. Here one of the appendages is completely inside, one completely outside and the remaining ones regularly overlaps.
