Acid- a molecule or other species which can donate a proton or accept an electron pair in reactions.
base- the lowest part or edge of something, especially the part on which it rests or is supported.

I'm in 10th standard...so we are taught the definition according to ARRHENIUS Concept

Actually in this we deal with the aqueous solution of acid and base

So According to Arrhenius...

ACID :- acid is a substance that dissociates in water to form H+ or hydrogen ions

Whereas
BASE:- base is a substance which dissociates in water to form hydroxide ion or OH- ions
