If you have ever heard of Maxwell’s Equations you may know that the first one is supposed to indicate that no magnetic “Monopoles” exist (if you cut a magnet in half you will simply have smaller magnet, or two of them, but each side of the magnet will have the same polarity. There are only Magnets that have both North and South poles . Within the material of the magnet there is magnetism that “flows”from the southern pole to the northern pole, through the material, and in a straight line.
Electromagnetism indicates (and has done so with proper mathematical rigor) that electricity and magnetism are manifestations of the same phenomenon but within different Fields “force movement/lines upon which a predictable rate of change in force is calculable). Electricity is the Energy related to the conduction of free electrons through a conductor when subject to a potential Electromotive Force that is created by a changing magnetic field within the two points of charge. The electronic force is a consequence of the repulsive force the like charges exhibit on on another and that is due to the Magnetic field that develops around a current through a wire in one direction having a magnetic force that will repel a force in an adjacent part of the conductor.
So, since the phenomena of Magnetization is defined as having no monopoles then in order for the magnetic force to exist it must travel radially from the northern pole and ato the southern pole while avoiding the Magnetic force in the opposite direction in the material. This is why the total field flows in one direction within the material and in the opposite direction outside the Material. The demagnetization is the fringing field lines of magnetic force emanating radially from North to south parallel to, but opposite the Magnetization
