It is also called a government of the people, for the people and by the people.

Examples of democracies are: India, Denmark, Norway, etc.

Advantages of democracies:

1. Democracies are more accountable form of governments.

2. They provide a room to correct mistakes.

3. They ensure the dignity of all the citizens.

4. They enhance the quality of decision making.

5. Democracies also provide a method to resolve conflicts.

It has many characteristic:-

1. government is divided into two parts:-central and state.
2. Organs are divided into three parts:- executive,judiciary, legislative.
3. State government are not under the central.
4. There is also a local government.
