DEMOCRACY is a form of government in which people is governed by their own elected representative member.

The two types of democracy are Direct and Representative.

A Direct Democracy is when the people have power to create and vote for laws. The citizens of a country essentially make the rules.

A Representative Democracy is also called a Republic. This is the United States. The people elect representatives to Congress to make laws for them. The citizens cannot propose new laws, they have to urge their representative to do it, and Congress, not the people, will decide if it should become law or not.
