it is simply a form of govt. where rulers are directly elected by people and the decision making power vests with those who are elected. Also the elections are conducted in a free and fair way and is governed by an independent body.

democracy is a form of government in which ruler is elected by the people .

democracy is for the people , by the people and to the people

it is a better form of government from monarchy and dictatorship.
