If a country will rule by a military general or king or queen their might be chance that right they given can be taken if try to protest them.But in democracy you have right if a government try to take your rights you can protest you will get justice .or you can simply eliminate them in next election.Also Political party in government due to fear of losing election will do anything .
But today they only do when election is coming
