Amulyapindi: Denitrification is the reverse process of nitrification. During this nitrates are reduced to nitrites and then to nitrogen gas and ammonia. This reduction of nitrates to gaseous nitrogen by microorganisms in a series of biochemical reactions is called denitrification.
