Dental caries is the scientific term for tooth decay or cavities. ... They produce acid that destroys the tooth's enamel and the layer under it, the dentin. Many different types of bacteria normally live in the human mouth. They build up on the teeth in a sticky film called plaque.

Dental caries is caused by the action of acids on the enamel surface. The acid is produced when sugars (mainly sucrose) in foods or drinks react with bacteria present in the dental biofilm (plaque) on the tooth surface

Dental Caries :

It is localised softening & destruction of enamel (Enamel :It is the outer shining part of the teeth which the hardest thing in whole body)And dentine (inner bone like covering) of teeth, forming cavities that reach the pulp.

Dental caries also called dental decay !

It is cause by bacteria "streptococcus mutas"

Cause :

This bacteria secrete the acids that causes dental care .

& Leads in the formation of plaques.
