Ozone is a molecule formed by 3 atoms of oxygen. It's deadly poisonous. However at higher levels it performs an essential function. It protects earth from UV rays.
The amount of ozone is dropping sharply in the 1980s. This is linked to CFC(cholroflurocarbon) used in refrigerators. In 1987 UNEP succeded in forging an agreement to freeze CFC production. Now it's mandatory to make CFC free refrigerators throughout the world.
