Answer:

Explanation:

Desertification is defined as a process of land degradation in arid, semi-arid and sub-humid areas due to various factors including climatic variations and human activities. Or, to put it in another way, desertification results in persistent degradation of dryland and fragile ecosystems due to man-made activities and variations in climate. Desertification, in short, is when land that was originally of another type of biome turns into a desert biome because of changes of all sorts. A huge issue that many countries have is the fact that there are large pockets of land that are going through a process that is known as desertification.

Answer:

Explanation:

It is the destruction of biological potential of the land which can Ultimately lead go desert like conditions. In arid and semiarid regions, the restoration of the fragile ecosystem is very slow, and issues like deforestation, mining enhances the desertification. Desertification is a main problem faced by desert adjoining areas, which stretches across parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana.

The cause of this process is not climatic changes, droughts etc but human activities.

Here are few causes :-

1. Population pressure.

2. Increase in cattle population, over grazing.

3. Increased agriculture.

4. Development activities.

5. Deforestation.
