What is destarching? why do plants get destrachedwhen kept in continious darknees for about 48 hours?

Keeping a plant in complete darkness for 48 hours in order to remove the starchvis called distarching

kunaljit: the plant gets distarched because it has used all the starch for various metabolic activities

Removal of starch is known as destarching .
Leaf gets destarched when it is kept in darkness because leaf does not gets sunlight to carry out photosynthesis. So starch will not be produced.
