The classification of natural resources-

natural resources is divided into 4 types

  • ON THE BASIS OF ORIGIN
  • ON THE BASIS OF USE AND DEVELOPMENT
  • ON THE BASIS OF AVAILABILITY
  • ON THE BASIS OF DISTRIBUTION

ON THE BASIS OF ORIGIN-

  1. biotic resources-they are resources derived from the living things.ex-flora and fauna
  2. Abiotic resources- they are derived from non-living things.ex-soil,minerals

ON THE BASIS OF USE AND DEVELOPMENT-

  1. Actual or developed resources- they are resources whose quality and quantity are known to us. these resources have already been developed and are currently being used by the humans. the iron ore in Jharkhand, petroleum deposits in West Asian countries, gold and diamond deposit in South Africa are some examples of developed resources
  2. potential resources- resources that are not being used presently due to lack of technological knowledge, but can be used in the future when the technology advances

ON THE BASIS OF AVAILABILITY-

  1. renewable resources-these
  2. resources get renewed or replenish within a short period of time
  3. non-renewable resources- these
  4. resources cannot be renewed or replenish within a short period of time

ON THE BASIS OF DISTRIBUTION-

  1. ubiquitous resources-they are resources that are found everywhere
  2. localised resources-they are resources that are concentrated in a certain region
