Dialysis substitutes the natural work of the kidneys, so it is also known as renal replacement therapy (RRT).

Healthy kidneys regulate the body's levels of water and minerals and remove waste. The kidneys also secrete certain products that are important in metabolism, but dialysis cannot do this.

Dialysis, when our kidney can be adversely affected by injury, decreased blood supply. An excess of toxic substances accumulates in the body and it can lead to death.

When our kidneys fail, nitrogenous wastes are separated from the blood with the help of man made machine . The process of separating nitrogenous wastes from blood with the help of the machine is called Dialysis.
