Dietrich Brandis was a German botanist and administer. He worked for 30 years in India with the British Imperial Forestry Service.

He was born on 31 march 1824 and died on 29 may 1907 at the age of 83.

They then invited Dietrich Brandis, who was an expert in forestry development.
The British invited him to seek his advice and then they made him the Inspector General of the Forests in India.
