  • The process of giving rise to new plants arise the vegitative parts of the parent plant is known as Vegetative Propagation.

  • The vegitative parts involved in this process are termed as Vegetative Propagules

  • Stem, roots and leaves are vegetative parts of a plant.

Some common practices of vegetative propagation are :

  • Cutting : A stem along with it's nodes and internodes intact is cut and placed in soil which subsequently grows into an adult plant.

  • Layering

  • Grafting : Stem cuttings are attached to another fully grown plant.

Examples,

  • Tubers of Potato
  • Leaves of Bryophyllum
