cation are the positively charged ion. Cation always loses it's electron to complete it's octet. Eg-Na+, and Na+ loses one electron to become stable.
Anion are the negatively charged ion. They always gain electrons, so as to complete it's octet. eg-Cl-, and Cl- gains 1 electron to complete it's octet and becomes stable.
