Electricity flows in two ways: either in an alternating current (AC) or in a direct current (DC). Electricity or "current" isnothing but the movement of electrons through a conductor, like a wire. Thedifference between AC and DC lies in thedirection in which the electrons flow.

.ac is more suitable than DC for transmission of electric power over long distanqces without much loss of energy
