Answers
1) Acids when dissolved in water produce hydrogen ions whereas Bases produce Hydroxyl ions when dissolved in water.
2) Indicators are special substances which are used to test whether a substance is acidic or basic in nature. Turmeric, litmus and red-cabbage are examples of some naturally occurring indicators. Phenolphthalein and methyl orange are human-made indicators.
3) PANCREAS : Enzymes, or digestive juices, are secreted by the pancreas into the small intestine. There, it continues breaking down food that has left the stomach. The pancreas also produces the hormone insulin and secretes it into the bloodstream, where it regulates the body's glucose or sugar level.
ABDOMEN : The abdomen helps in breathing via the accessory muscles of respiration. The primary functions of the abdomen consist of digestion, breathing, posture and balance, as well as movement
4) Ant sting contains the simplest carboxylic acid found in nature, Methanoic acid which is also known as formic acid. Formic acid got its name from “formica”, the Latin name for ant
5) Calamine solution contains zinc carbonate which is basic in nature. It is just a fact and not really likely to question "WHY".
Now please try to solve the remaining questions of your own. The answers can be found in the SCIENCE TEXTBOOK in the specific chapter....!!!
