Arteries are the red blood vessels which carry blood from the heart to all the parts of the body while Veins are the blue blood vessels which carry blood from all the parts of the body back to the heart.

arteries - They carries oxygen rich blood. So their walls are thick and elastic because the flow of blood in very fast in arteries.
veins - They carries carbon dioxide rich blood. So their walls are thin and in veins it has valves so the flow of blood should be in only one direction.
