Well, coal is a resource thats formed by nature through the decomposition of degradable waste under high temperature & pressure and coke is a byproduct/derivative of coal through the process destructive distillation.

Those are the majour part of the qts but anyway there are other things like,

coke has high calorific value compared to coal.

coal is much sooty or leaves huge amount of residue / unburnt particle while compared to coke.

one of the most fame thing about coke is that its used for smelting process.
