Cristernea is the flattened membrane disc of the endoplasmic reticulum and Gilhi apparatus.

★It is space Containing Fluid, Lymph, Chyle, Cerebrospinal Fluid.

★Function :- The Cristernea carry Golgi enzymes to help or to Modify cargo proteins travelling through them destined for other parts of the cell.

Cristea are the foldings of the inner mitochondrial membrane.

★They are sub- compartments of the inner membrane.

★The inner mitochondrial membrane is made up of two sub- Compartments.

  • The Folded Cristea whose protrusions and folds penetrate the inner mitochondrial matrix.
  • The inner boundary membrane which is adjacent to the outer membrane.

Heya mate........

The difference between the cisternaeand the cristae:

The cisternae is a flattened membrane disk which the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum is made up of.

On the other hand a Cristae is a fold in the inner membrane of the mitochondrion.

Hope this will help you......
