what is difference between dc generator and dc motor ,and what is difference between Ac motor and Ac generator.

Dc motor is used for generating mechanical energy using electrical energy and split rings are used but in dc generator mechanical energy is changed to electrical energy and the same thing happens to ac motor and generator but here slip rings are used
