what is difference between digestion and respiration of food are they both exothermic reactions
Answers
Respiration is basically the oxidation of glucose molecules.
C6H12O6 + O2 →H2O + CO2 + heat
Here the oxygen is provided by atmosphere and glucose by our bodies.
Now for the exothermic part,
Here the unstable ( less stable than products )bigger glucose molecules are broken down into water and carbon dioxide molecules through combustion reaction. As the product have lesser energy than reactants (product is more stable than reactant), energy must be released which makes it an exothermic reaction.
And ∆H of the reaction will also be —ve.
Answer:
no they are not both exothermic reaction .
digestion is taken place only inside the stomach and respiration take place both inside and outside the body.
while respiration no energy is released but while digestion energy is released
