Distance is a scalar quantity while displacement is a vector quantity...

Distance cannot be negative..

Distance is the path between initial and final position while displacement is the shortest path between initial and final position...displacement is always less than or equal to distance..

Hope it helps you....

Answer:

Distance and displacement are taken from a point/frame of reference. Displacement means how much you are away from the point of reference. and distance means how much you have traveled from your point of reference. If your initial and final position coincide then displacement is zero, But distance is non zero as you have travelled from a point. Taking coordinate axis we can mark displacement as even negative but distance can never be negative.....

As Displacement gives you direction apart from magnitude so it is a vector quantity but distance only has magnitude so it is a scalar quantity...

Hope it Helps Buddy.
