There are a lot of times when u could use "home" and "house" intercbangeably but "home" is a broader word than "house".
"Home" means the place where you live. It could be a house, an apartment, a condo or
a cardboard box under a bridge. It could refer to the town, region or country you're from. It also has a more emotional connotation than "house". we have sayings like there's no place like home, Home is where the heart is, Make yourself at home, and so on. House wouldn't work in any of those phrases.
"House" is more specific and refer to the physical building that someone lives in, especially as detached, single family home. It could also be a rowhouse or townhouse. We wouldn't really call an apartment or an apartment building a house unless it was a large house that was later divided into apartments.
