As we know, a phone has a long side and a short side.
A landscape view is when the contents in the screen are oriented in such a way that the lower side is the longer side (if you have auto rotate option switched on, try to rotate your phone by 90°), and looks more like a landscape painting (Example - the painting of a scenery)
A portrait orientation is the orientation of content in the screen with the lower side as the shorter side (how most phones are used) and looks more like a portrait painting (Example - the painting of a person)
