Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre are quite different in tone and style. The stories are entirelydissimilar, though both are excellent.some similarities:-Both novels were written by a woman.-Both include a love interest between a well-to-do landowner of the upper class and a woman beneath him socially.-Both have a woman of the same class vying for the main male character's attention.-There is a rather haughty aunt to be found in each book.-Both books include a character named Jane.-Both take place in a country setting rather than London (though there is a little bit which takes place in London in Pride and Prejudice).-In both cases, the main character wouldn't even consider a marriage of convenience (one whichwould be of some social and financial benefit). Marrying for love was important to both.-Both Jane Eyre and Elizabeth Bennet receive marriage proposals from two different men. Ineach case, one loves her and the other does not.-Though different eras, each story shows the restrictions under which women lived. They did nothave much by way of opportunities and were generally considered to need men to provide forthem. Jane Eyre and Elizabeth Bennet were both more independent than the times would suggestand both were true to their own convictions.some differences:-Pride and Prejudice is set in Regency England, Jane Eyre in Victorian England.-Jane Eyre is impoverished and must work, the Bennets, though they potentially face poverty if atleast one doesn't marry well, are reasonably well off and do not have to work. (Jane Eyre would be considered working class, the Bennets would not.)-Jane Eyre is darker and has Gothic elements, Pride and Prejudice is a light and witty comedy ofmanners tale.-The male character in Jane Eyre is a tormented, not so Pride and Prejudice.
