What is difference between nuclear fusion and noclear fission

both fission and fusion are nuclear reaction tha t produce energy.but the application are not the same. fission is the splitting of a heavy , unstable nucleus in two lighter nuclei ,and fusions is the process where two light nuclei combine together releasing vast amounts of energy.
