NCERT based Answer for Class 11 Biology Students

Photosystem I

 Located in grana thylakoids as well as stromal thylakoids.

 Photocentre is P700.

 Receives electrons from PS II.

 Performs cyclic photophosphorylation independently.

 It hands over its electrons to NADP+ in non– cyclic phosphorylation.

Photosystem II

 Present only in grana thylakoids.

 Photocentre is P680.

 Receives electrons from photolysis of water.

 Performs non-cyclic photophosphorylation in conjunction with PS I.  

 It hands over its electrons to PS I.
