The difference between enamel coating and powder coating are as follows -

• The most obvious difference is that enamel coating is performed by enamel and the plastic coating is performed by plastic which is also cheaper than the enamel coating.

• The enamel coating mainly includes powdered glass but the plastic coating mainly used raw plastic powder.

• The enamel coating has more longevity than a general plastic coating.

Difference between plastic coating and enamel:

Plastic coating:

  • Metals that are to be plastic coated are cleaned using a chemical after which it is placed in an oven and heated to between 250 and 400 degrees Celcius.
  • When the metal is heated amply, it is immersed into a fluidizer tank containing polymer powder.
  • Plastic coating includes hot-dip coating in a fluidized bed of polymer powder.

Enamel coating:

  • Enamel coating is done by fusing powdered glass to a metal surface by firing usually up to 850 degrees celsius.
  • The molten glass powder later hardens to a smooth glassy finish.
  • The enamel coating includes powdered glass. The enamel coating has more durability than a compared to plastic coating.
