What is difference between rancidity an corrosion?

corrosion means the slow destruction of metal by action of moisture and air to the metal is called corrossion..

eg. rusting of iron (FERRIC OXIDE) , green layer above copper (COPPER CARBONATE) etc..

RANCIDITY: - The degradation of fats and oils by getting oxidised or by the action of Oxygen upon them is called RANCIDITY

EG: - An unusual smell coming out of chips after their expiry, etc...

Rancidity----the condition produced by aerial oxidation of fats and oils in foods marked by unpleasent smell and teste is called rancidity.

Corrosion ------- it is process in which metals are eaten up gradually by the action of air, moisture or a chemical (such as an acid) on their surface.
