corrosion means the slow destruction of metal by action of moisture and air to the metal is called corrossion..
eg. rusting of iron (FERRIC OXIDE) , green layer above copper (COPPER CARBONATE) etc..

RANCIDITY: - The degradation of fats and oils by getting oxidised or by the action of Oxygen upon them is called RANCIDITY
EG: - An unusual smell coming out of chips after their expiry, etc...
