- The energy released is stored in the ATP molecules.
- Respiration occurs in 2 phases
a) Breathing or external respiration.
b) Internal or tissue respiration.
Breathing :
- Breathing is simply exchange of gases in which an organism takes in oxygen from the environment and gives out carbon dioxide.
- It is a physical or mechanical process involving inhalation or exhalation.
- Different organisms have different organs for breathing.
For eg : fish breathe by gills and land animals by nostrils and lungs.
