A central government is the government of a nation-state and is more typically a characteristic of a unitary state. Basically, the central government has the power to make laws for the whole country, in contrast with local governments. For definition of levels of government see also general government.

Central government is present in the entire county and functions in whole country. WHEREAS State government is present in states and is not sub ordinate to the central government.
