- They are soft and melt on heating.
- They can be given different shapes.
- Example : Polythene, PVC, etc.
Thermosetting plastics -
- They are hard and do not melt on heating, if exposed to high temperature they simply burn instead of melting.
- They can shaped only once.
- Example: bakelite, melamine, etc.
