In some positive displscement pumps, the amount of fluid which can bepumped in each cycle can be changed. Such pumps are called variable displacement pumps. Pumps which do not have this facility are called fixeddisplacement pumps. This variableamount of fluid is ususlly used to control the speed of actuation.
