Viruses can infect plants and animals, viroids are only known to infect plants. ... A Viroid is formed only of a single stranded circular RNA molecule that is much smaller and simpler than a virus. Viroidsare naked RNA with no protein or lipid coat. Unlike viral genomes viroid genomes do not encode for any proteins.
