In solids the molecules are tightly packed and has very less inter molecule force and inter molecule space, from which solids cannot be compressed. Solids have fixed shape and fixed volume. It cannot be squashed.

Liquids:

In liquids the molecules are little freely arranged. Liquids have no fixed shape but has fixed volume.  It has some inter molecule force and inter molecule space. It cannot be squashed.

Gases:

In gases the molecules are very freely arranged. Its inter molecular force and inter molecular space. It doesn't have a fixed shape nor a fixed volume. It can be squashed.
