The fusion of a male reproductive cell with a female reproductive cell to produce a single cell is called the zygote. The zygote ,thus formed , divides repeatedly and travels to the uterus. It gets attached to the wall of the uterus and forms the embryo or the tiny baby. The cells of the embryo divide and differentiate into different types to form tissues. The tissues form organs, and the embryo slowly takes the familiar form of a baby. This is when it is called a foetus.
