Analogous structures have different evolutionary ancestries but they have the same function. Examples of these types of structures are the wings ofbirds, bats and insects. Homologousstructures are the opposite; they have similar ancestries and common traits but maybe not have the same functionin an organism.

Homologous oragans:Homology in Animals. Organs such as bat's wing, wings of birds, seal's flipper, forelimb of a horse, and human arm have a common underlying anatomy that was present in their last common ancestors; therefore their forelimbs are homologous organs.

Analogous oragan:Organs having similar function but different origins.
