Answer:

Wave–particle duality is the concept in quantum mechanics that every particle or quantum entity may be described as either a particle or a wave. It expresses the inability of the classical concepts "particle" or "wave" to fully describe the behaviour of quantum-scale objects.

Answer:

In essence a particle has mass and a physical existence however small. Normally a particle is not a wave, with the wave being an oscillatory pattern of propagation with measurable parameters such as amplitude, cycles per second or frequency, energy per unit space or area per unit time or intensity, etc. As you can see it is more of an oscillatory propagation of an energy form with those characteristics that is called a wave. These energy forms could be light, other electromagnetic waves, gravity waves(just recently confirmed as Einstein had predicted over a 100 years ago, leading to the Nobel prize in physics for 2017), gamma rays, microwaves, Laser beams, etc. Discontinuous waves as macroscopically observed are waves seen on bodies of water, liquids of different densities, semisolid heavy liquids, vibrations seen in solid bodies, sound waves, which are waves through the air, liquids, solids, and highly sudden irregular waves of earthquakes, etc. Now both tangible and intangible entities can exhibit wave behavior. The above examples of most of the discontinuous waves are tangible. An example of an intangible wave form that has energy is light itself. You can not grab it but can experience the heat from it when it falls and excites your skin cells and nerve endings. Now it is well known that the so called intangible wave forms carrying energy of course, like light, has particle-like behavior where it can knock out electrons from metal surface, like a ball hitting a ball and changing its trajectory. This discovery by Einstein led to the concept of wave-particle duality of light at a fundamental level which was expanded by De Broglie to include all matter. In other words all matter however big or small may exhibit wave properties, just as light manifests both. So in essence particle or matter, has indelible ties to the wave-like behavior fundamentally speaking, tangible or intangible, and conversely all wave or wave-like propagation of energy have something to do with particle or ‘mass-like’ behavior also… From the macroscopic world of observable phenomena, to particles/objects, to the atomic world, to light, all E.M. waves, gravity waves, etc all exhibit wave-like phenomena along with particle or mass like behavior, to varying degrees depending on what entity we are talking about and its state of existence
