The essence of calculus is the derivative. The derivative is the instantaneous rate of change of a function with respect to one of its variables. This is equivalent to finding the slope of the tangent line to the function at a point.

Hey!!!

Here is your answer__________

Differentiation is a method of finding the derivative for a function at any given point.

In Calculus, derivative is the measure of how a function changes its value as the input changes.

Suppose a quantity y is a function of another quantity x, i.e. y=f(x).

When there is a change in x, y also changes according to the function f(x). In order to find the rate of this change (w.r.t. x) at any value ofx, we must find dy/dx at that particular x.

In y versus x graph, dy/dx gives the value of the slope of the tangent drawn at point x.
