An atom of hydrogen is a single species (H)
A molecule of hydrogen is a single species too (Hâ‚‚)
So what's the difference?
Let us look at total electrons in system.
H atom has 1 electron in total.
H molecule has 2 electrons total.
Hence the difference is clear. H molecule has 2 H atoms bonded by a single bond. Both electrons in covalence.
However, an atom of H is a just a lonely atom.
Hope this helped
