Degree of saturation refers to the amount of solute dissolved in a solvent at a certain temperature. If the solvent could dissolve more solute than is present, the solution is unsaturated and If the solvent has dissolved the maximum amount of solute possible (at that temperature), the solution is saturated.

(i) Saturated solution is a solution which cannot take anymore solute.
(ii) Unsaturated solution can take more amount of solute.
(i) Saturated solution may carry an insoluble precipitate.
(ii) Unsaturated solution does not carry precipitate .
(i) Saturated solution has more capacity to dissolve more solutes.
(ii) Unsaturated solution can no more dissolve solvents
