Digestion is the process in which the body breaks down food into molecules that can be used for nourishment. The stomach is not the only organ involved in the digestion process. A series of organs comprise the human digestive tract, including the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestines, liver and large intestine. Each organ in the digestive tract plays an integral part in the digestive process.

digestion is the process in which the food is broken down into simpler substances
digestion is one of the steps involved in nutrition.... all the steps involved are -

ingestion- the process of taking in food through the mouth(also known as buccal cavity) is called ingestion

digestion- the process in which the food is broken down into simpler substances so that it can be used by the body

absorption- when the food reaches the small intestine there are so many small finger like projections called villi which absorb the nutrients for the growth and repair of the body

assimilation- the absorbed food is then supplied to the blood vessels so that it can be transported throughout the body

egestion - the unabsorbed food is there thrown out of the body .this process known as egestion .
