the process of breakdown of comples organic matter into simpler organic matter is called digestion, it is the breakdown of food into nutrients. it takes place starting with mouth, we eat then it reaches stomach where several enzymes are secreted then food goes to large intestine where liquids are digested and partial digestion of food takes place then finally completely breakdown of food takes place in small intestine all nutrients are transferred to the body and only residue remains.
