The type of cross between two individuals having two pairs of contrasting characters at a time is called a dihybrid cross. example - If you cross pure-breeding tall, round-seed pea plants with pure-breeding short, wrinkled-seed pea plants, then you are considering 2 characters in the cross and it is a dihybrid cross.

When two characters or traits are studied during a cross, it is called dihybrid cross. 

For e.g. in a pea plant

# Yellow colour and round shape is dominant over green colour and wrinkled shape.
