what  is direct speech and and reported speech?

Direct speech :- reporting a speech by repeating the actual words of the speaker.
Eg :-  " I am eating fruits."
Indirect speech :- reporting a speech in subordinate clause by a reporting verb with required changes.
Eg :- "He said that he would go" (based on I ("I would go" - the real words of the speaker))

ex: "pratick said, ' give me that notes.' "
