Coal is a kind of geological material. There is discreteness in strength of different samples of natural coal. This is because of the differences in the formation conditions and complex external force of geological tectonic movement for billions of years. So different coal with different material components has been formed which contains different number and nature of defects.
In order to use coal in engineering projects a number of uniaxial compressive strength experiments are conducted with five types of different sizes of coal samples and deformations and damage forms are researched.
