Treating a human being unfairly and inappropriately on the basis of the traits and characteristics they possess in termed as discrimination.

The attributes can be age, gender, race, caste, creed, etc.

The Equality Act 2010 has protected age, gender, race, disability, religion, pregnancy and maternity, sexual orientation, gender assignment, marriage and civil partnership as the characteristics which if maltreated will be termed unlawful under the Act and will be marked as Discrimination.
